Free Agency Watch

Post by Parker on Sun Jan 24, 2016 11:01 pm

Here are a list of Potential Redskin Free Agent Targets:

Centers

Ben Jones [Texans] (26) - Jones has spent his entire four-year career with the Texans after being drafted in the fourth round in 2012.  He's started every game for the Texans at C for the past two seasons and done pretty well.  He's still only 26 and about to sign his second NFL contract after just finishing his rookie deal this past season.

Gino Gradkowski [Falcons] (27) - Also drafted in the fourth round in 2012, Gradkowski spent the first three years of his career with the Ravens before being traded to the Broncos for draft picks.  The Broncos waived him back in September and he was picked up by the Falcons a day later.

Stefen Wisniewski [Jaguars] (27) - Didn't miss a snap this entire season and was probably the Jags top OL.  Could be costly, but he's very good.

Wide Receivers

Jermaine Kearse [Seahawks] (25) - He's not the huge WR every Redskins fan is talking about these days, but he's no smurf, either.  At 6'1", 209 lbs., he'd still be one of the biggest WRs on the roster.  He's also proven more capable as a red-zone receiver than most of the receivers on the Redskins.

Andre Holmes [Raiders] (27) - Here is a big target for Redskin fans, he's 6'4" and has caught eight TDs in the past two seasons.

Inside Linebackers

Brandon Marshall [Broncos] (26) - He's been great in Wade Phillips' 3-4 scheme and is a prototypical fit in the Redskins 3-4, as well.  Better against the run than the pass, he's still young and figures to be very good for quite some time.  Scot loves FAs from winning teams/organizations.

Danny Trevathan [Broncos] (25) - He's another one who'd be a great fit in Washington.  Denver's ILBs are ripe for the picking.  Very young still.

Craig Robertson [Browns] (27) - The redskins ILB group is up in the air at the moment with Mason Foster and Keenan Robinson both as FAs and Perry Riley as a potential salary cut.  Robertson would be a great fit as a Redskin.

Jerrell Freeman [Colts] (29) - Freeman's been a full-time starter in the NFL ever since (the past four seasons).  He's typically good for 100+ tackles, 3 sacks, and a FF and/or an INT or two.  He'd be a quality stopgap.

What about Alshon Jeffery? I dont think the bears would let him go but if he hit the open market we should go after him. I'm sure there would be plenty of competition in trying to sign him...including the Patriots who are rumored to be very interested in him.

Alex Mack could opt out of Cleveland Browns this would be another big Free Agent to go after.

NFL Rumors wrote:The transition offer sheet Mack signed with Jacksonville in 2014 and matched by the Browns gives Mack the option to opt out of the deal after the 2015 season.

I would rather see us build though the draft and get a young stud WR like so many other teams have right now. It's crazy how many young breakout WR's there are right now.
